Qualifications
15 years’ experience in teaching Science and Agriculture.
"Grew up on a farm with beef cattle and horses. There were always lots of animals around and I loved the connection and peace I got from being around them.
My Agriculture passion was born when I lived and worked on a remote cattle station in northern QLD where we milked the cow in the morning, eat from the veggie patch and had beef for breakfast lunch and dinner. We mustered everything by horse back, and it was such a privilege to have the opportunity, it ignited something in me that said all young people should have this experience to have the connection with where their food and fibre comes from.
Fast forward a few years after teaching Agriculture from year 7 to 12, I started to see there was a disconnect between industry and what was happening in schools to promote and engage students in agriculture. The nature of the school system does not work well with the seasonality, variability and timeline that is agriculture. With our aging workforce in Agriculture and the need to expose young people to what is in the agriculture industry then became my passion. Our country needs young people to take the reins of the huge industry which feeds and clothes us. I want to do my part to showcase what an rewarding, challenging and awesome lifestyle farming can be for our future generations."
